What I knew about catalogs is that they have a very broad collection of books and that you could search for titles related to each other. Now I know that you can narrow your search and click on the topics and search for books related to their topics. I knew that ebooks were available and were the same as books but in a digital form. Now I know that there can be compatible ebooks with the original book and more related ebooks with the print that isn’t available. I actually never knew that NoveList Plus existed and that only catalogs belonged to schools and libraries. NoveList Plus is a very helpful and good resource for finding more books that you are interested in. I learned new search strategies and refreshed my memory of Boolean techniques. These skills will help me so I can work at a faster pace and learn new shortcuts. I can work smarter and find exactly what I need in a shorter amount of time.

I only knew NCWiseOWL for homework resources and never for its databases. NCWiseOWL is good for researching and for finding information on topics you’re interested in. It has valid and reliable information and carries a variety of resources such as journals, magazines, ebooks, primary sources, and biographies. I never knew SIRS Issue Researcher, Academic Video Online, and eLibrary were websites that I could use. These databases are just as helpful as NCWiseOWL. Academic Video Online can be used if you like more of a visual learning experience rather than reading a bunch of words. SIRS Issue Researcher and eLibrary go hand in hand. If you somehow get tired of NCWiseOWL you can always rely on these databases and get the same experience.
I knew about the CRAAP test in 6th grade but I never paid much attention and thought it wasn’t that important. The CRAAP test is actually very necessary for evaluating websites. You don’t want to get false information from people who don’t know what they’re talking about. Some websites do carry good information but aren’t relevant in today’s world. This test is good for getting verified and reliable information for research or just for your own time. I have improved on learning about numerous databases that I can use for future references. I have also refreshed my memory of using the CRAAP test. These skills will help me and students in the LMC by finding good and reliable sources that students can use for their research. We don’t want any false information spreading and bad websites to get recognition, only for bad purposes. A discovering of new databases can help other students and I find a diversity of information and not be limited to only one. |

What I knew about creating content in Google slides before I started my booktrailer is the ability to add transitions and effects to make it more interesting. Now I know that you can add multiple effects on one slide to create a more fascinating slide. I’ve improved on making cleaner transitions. I didn’t know that you could make movies with Google slides, only presentations of multiple topics, not one central topic in all. I know now that you can make movies on Google slides to get points across and also to inform and teach people. It’s more simple making a movie on Google slides than any other form of presentation. I never knew Screencastify was an app you could use to record your browser and movies. I know now there are apps similar to Screencastify that can record since I never knew those apps existed. It took a while to adjust to its workings and format and still is hard to work with in my opinion but when you learn, it’s a very reliable source you can use to record movies with.
I learned that diversity in literature opens and expands your knowledge in many different ways. Books can tell other people’s stories and their hardships (economically, socially) and can represent who you are and your struggles in pages. My book tells from different points of view how it’s like to be different skin colors and what they go through. It shows and reflects. Diversity will help me in the future by learning about injustice in different groups. It will help me become less indifferent with my growth as a person. It will also open my eyes more around situations. I see from multiple perspectives and understand.

The technology skills of my PSA were not refined from other projects, some improvement on the effects and not too crazy. I spend more time planning out and executing the PSA more smoothly so my creativity isn’t limited. My hook could’ve been more entertaining rather than simple. However, I set the mood of my PSA pretty well and I was very straightforward with the purpose and motive of the PSA.
One big understanding I learned from the Checkology modules is that you should always check and research your information so it is reliable and valid rather than fake and also not believe everything you see first sight, always research and think before acting. You should also know the types of information you encounter. For example is it news, for entertainment, informing, or trying to persuade you? When I encounter new information on the internet, I will be less gullible and more open minded. I will also try to identify the purpose of the information and its expectations from the viewer. This new knowledge will expand my abilities to think and identify any information, personally or academically while researching for a project or while going through social media.
